Did you know that 1 out of 4 dogs suffers from arthritis?

Arthritis doesn't just affect senior animals. 70% of joint disease results from developmental diseases: 22% of arthritis cases are found in dogs less than 12 months of age.

There are two main types of joint problems in dogs, so it’s never too early to think about your dog’s long-term joint health or to starting with a natural joint support and arthritis supplement for dogs to help to offset the degenerative effects of ageing.

1. Developmental

  • Hip or elbow dysplasia
  • HOD (hypertrophic osteodystrophy)
  • OCD (osteochondritis dissecans)

2. Degenerative

  • osteoarthritis

Degenerative joint disease can get worse with age if left untreated.

Both developmental and degenerative joint disease involves inflammation. Swelling and pain are part of the body’s attempt to heal from injury and wear and tear, sending antibodies and white blood cells to promote healing.

Inflammation that goes unchecked can add to your dog’s joint issues:

Joints are lined with a thin layer of cartilage that produces a fluid that lubricates the joint. This helps the joints move and function without any friction or pain.

Over time, antibodies from chronic inflammation begin to attack the joint lining and ironically, cause the joint disease they’re trying to protect against and the symptoms of joint disease appear.

Standard Veterinary Treatment

NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories)

If your dog is suffering from joint disease or arthritis, your vet might prescribe NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories) These drugs include Rimadyl, Metacam, Inflacam and Petcam and are all cox-2 inhibitors. This means they work by inhibiting the inflammatory process … which happens through something called a cyclooxygenase pathway (COX).

The COX pathways are important for many body functions including:

  • Blood vessel constriction and blood clotting
  • Stomach acid production and mucous lining
  • Blood flow to the kidneys
  • Inflammatory response

Controlling inflammation with NSAIDs can cause issues in other parts of the body: Boehringer Ingelheim, the manufacturers of Metacam explain:
“As a class, cyclooxygenase inhibitory NSAIDs may be associated with gastrointestinal (gut), renal (kidney), hepatic (liver) toxicity. Serious adverse reactions associated with this drug class can occur without warning and in rare situations result in death.”

NSAIDs can make your dog’s joint pain worse!

According to Dr Ross Hauser “one of the most serious adverse reactions to NSAIDs, that is little appreciated, is that as a class of compounds they cause the breakdown of articular cartilage, thereby accelerating osteoarthritis, the very disease for which they are most commonly prescribed! The pathogenesis of osteoarthritis is accelerated by NSAIDs.”
Simply stated, that means the risks of using NSAIDs outweigh the benefits especially when there are natural alternatives that are just as effective.

Holistic Pet Nutrition

NutriFlex Fortified Collagen

NutriFlex® Advanced Mobility and Joint Support complex contains 100% natural, 100% bioactive ingredients backed by science and recommended by vets and animal nutritionists. Nutriflex is a next-generation holistic anti-ageing " bone-broth" protein supplement, packed with a naturally derived and synergistic source of amino acids, vital joint nutrients, vitamins and minerals

Collagen makes up over 70% of your dog’s muscles, tendons, ligaments, and, other joint supporting tissues, but when it breaks down, your dog’s joints can’t handle movement as well and the muscles and tissues become brittle. This leads to inflammation, pain and eventually joint disease, pain and, stiffness.

Supplementing with NutriFlex® Advanced Collagen (targeted arthritis supplement for dogs and cats) helps restore and maintain your pet's collagen levels and regenerate natural collagen production for an active, happier and healthier life.

NutriFlex Advanced Joint Support + Mobility Complex is fortified with:

Type II Collagen (Chicken Sternum)

— naturally derived source chondroitin, glucosamine and, hyaluronic acid.

Chondroitin is the major glycosaminoglycan in cartilage and when combined with glucosamine it becomes supercharged:

  • inhibits destructive enzymes in joint fluid and cartilage
  • helps the body repair damaged cartilage and
  • restores joint integrity
  • aids shock absorption
  • protects existing cartilage from premature breakdown
  • promotes cartilage tissue hydration

Glucosamine is a combination of glutamine (an amino acid) and glucose (a sugar).

Your dog’s body naturally produces glucosamine which helps create molecules that form the cartilage of your dog’s joints. But natural production declines with age.

Supplementing with naturally derived glucosamine and hyaluronic acid can repair damaged cartilage and tissues, help boost or replace lost joint fluid and relieve joint pain and discomfort.

Hyaluronic acid maintains joint lubrication, cushion joints and keeps them working smoothly.

Vets may recommend veterinary glucosamine supplements. Not only are these expensive but most are synthetic and are not absorbed as efficiently or as effectively as their natural counterparts.

NutriFlex Advanced Joint Support + Mobility Complex is fortified with:
